About the service

The cause of the disease is increased sensitivity of the skin to the effects of such rays.

Rarely, photodermatoses can be caused by visible light rays.

Experts identify a number of reasons that contribute to the development of photodermatoses, although often the reasons remain unknown:

  • Autoimmune diseases.
  • Disorders of the endocrine system.
  • Long-term use of certain medications.
  • Metabolic disorders.
  • Pigment metabolism disorders.
  • Avitaminosis.
  • Genetic predisposition or gene mutations.

Laser hair removal sometimes provokes photodermatosis. The procedure does not cause the disease, it only becomes one of the triggers that triggers the appearance of a rash, itching, and swelling.

Types and symptoms of photodermatoses

Clinical symptoms of the disease largely depend on the type of photodermatitis

Solar urticaria

Solar urticaria appears on the body with blisters and swelling. In this case, the patient experiences severe itching on the affected area of the skin. This type of photodermatitis most often occurs in people with poorly pigmented skin. The disease can also develop in the cold season with a short stay in a snowy area. This exposure to the sun, which is created by reflecting the sun's rays from pure snow, is called glacier burn.

Pellagra

Pellagra causes intense redness and flaking of the skin. Often, with pellagra, blisters may form on exposed areas of the skin. This type of photodermatosis develops in people who eat little greens, vegetables and fruits. Chronic diseases of the digestive tract can lead to the development of pellagra. This disease is caused by a lack of niacinamide (vitamin PP).

Porphyria

Porphyria has clinical symptoms similar to pellagra. The difference is more pronounced scarring after blisters. The most common variant of this disease is porphyria cutanea tarda. As a rule, the patient experiences severe itching and burning. The development of this type of photodermatosis is promoted by hepatitis or cirrhosis of the liver, HIV infection. It develops especially often in alcoholics and drug addicts. Porphyria can also develop in a person who is genetically prone to this type of disease.

Chronic actinic dermatitis

Chronic actinic dermatitis is characterized by rashes that form on the skin due to prolonged exposure to the sun on the skin. Clinical symptoms persist in the winter and autumn periods. Chronic actinic dermatitis most often occurs in older men who have spent a lot of time in direct contact with the sun's rays.

Polymorphic light eruption

Polymorphic light rash can manifest itself in different ways. However, the disease is always accompanied by severe itching. This type of photodermatosis most often affects young women from early spring to autumn. This disease is the most common representative of the group of photodermatoses that have no known causes to science.

Phototoxic dermatitis and phytophotodermatitis

Phototoxic dermatitis and phytophotodermatitis resemble a common sunburn. However, it does not require long-term exposure to develop. The first is associated with the ability of some drugs to increase sensitivity to ultraviolet rays. Phytophotodermatitis occurs in the summer, after skin contact with certain plants. At the same time, a person does not require a special predisposition: any person under appropriate conditions can have such a disease.

Photoallergic dermatitis

Photoallergic dermatitis causes a rash similar to eczema. Location: open areas of skin. Photoallergic dermatitis is a true allergic reaction. It develops due to the impact of various substances on the body, while the rays of the sun are only additional contributing factors.

Genodermatoses with increased sensitivity to ultraviolet rays

Genodermatoses with increased sensitivity to ultraviolet rays are a group of hereditary diseases where, as a result of a breakdown of a gene, a person does not have protection from the sun. For example, xeroderma pigmentosum, Cockayne syndrome, Rothmund-Thompson syndrome, etc.

When I was young, I got a tattoo with my husband’s name. After the divorce, there was a desire to remove it. Clinic K+31 attracted my attention because they use modern and reliable equipment, and all the doctors are experienced and certified. At the preliminary consultation, the cosmetologist carefully examined the tattoo and said that the tattoo artist had introduced the pigment deeper than necessary, and this would complicate the process of removing it. It took me 8 procedures to completely cleanse my skin. The redness after the sessions went away within 4-5 days. The result met my expectations.

I decided to get rid of the tattoo any way I could. Safety and quality of service are always important to me, not price. The doctor at the K+31 clinic recommended removal with the PicoCare 450 laser. It took me 6 sessions to completely remove the image. Thank you for your help!

Clinic K+31 was recommended to me by a friend. After looking at photos of other patients’ results on the website, I decided to remove the hated tattoo I got 8 years ago. Before the procedure, the doctor applied an anesthetic, so I did not experience much pain. The result pleased me.

Recently, I underwent a procedure of photorejuvenation and laser rejuvenation around the eyes by a cosmetologist Alexandra Sukhanova. I am very grateful to the doctor, excellent result. Under my eyes and on my right temple, I had small age spots, and so, all this disgrace disappeared, and there were fewer wrinkles under the eyes and it felt that the skin seemed to have become denser, dark circles under the eyes disappeared, the look became more open. The procedure itself was painless and everything went smoothly. Doctor is a professional in his field.
