- Diagnostics. A puncture is performed to obtain a sample. In the laboratory, they look at the nature of the liquid and identify the type of pathogen. This information helps the doctor prescribe treatment.
- X-ray diagnostics. To check the patency of the tubes, a contrast agent is injected through the puncture. Then they take a photo.
