Surgical cardiology

Surgical cardiology combines cardiology, arrhythmology, vascular surgery, and X-ray surgery. The work of cardiac surgeons is aimed at treating diseases of the heart and blood vessels, including with the help of surgical interventions, as well as influencing the pathological focus through the arteries.

In addition to performing surgical interventions, the Department of Surgical Cardiology carries out diagnostics of cardiovascular pathologies, clarification of the volume and severity of the lesion. For this, angiography is also used - a method that makes it possible to see blood clots and plaques in vessels of even small diameter. The subject is injected with a contrast agent that makes the arteries visible, then an X-ray is performed, while all the contours and irregularities are clearly visible, areas with weakened blood flow are found.

The equipment also contributes to the success of the treatment. Clinic K+31 is equipped with modern equipment that allows to carry out manipulations as accurately as possible, to obtain a detailed result.

Treatment in surgical cardiology

Restoration of the vessel's patency is carried out using recanalization surgery - removal of a thrombus or atherosclerotic plaque. Thanks to manipulation, blood flow improves, tissues are better supplied with oxygen. Often, after recanalization, a stent is inserted into the artery, the design of which prevents the vessel walls from collapsing and helps to maintain its patency.

In the Department of Surgical Cardiology, surgical interventions are performed for the following pathologies and conditions:

  • Coronary heart disease.
  • The presence of a blood clot in the lumen of a vessel of the heart, neck or extremities.
  • Atherosclerotic arterial disease.
  • Aortic aneurysm.
  • Atrial fibrillation or atrial fibrillation.
  • Renal artery stenosis.
  • Tachyarrhythmia.
  • Congenital or acquired heart valve disease.
  • Need for implantation of a pacemaker.

Before the operation, the patient undergoes a full comprehensive examination, he is consulted by doctors of other specialties. This is necessary to clarify the extent of the lesion, the severity of the condition, and identify possible contraindications to manipulation.

In urgent cases, urgently needed diagnostics are carried out as soon as possible and the necessary assistance is provided.

Our clinic provides, among other things, the following medical services in surgical cardiology:

  1. Endovascular vascular embolization.
With the help of emboli - rounded particles or spirals made of a special material or drugs - artificial thrombosis of a separate section of the tumor is carried out. Left without blood supply and nutrition, the neoplasm stops growing and dies.
This method is applicable not only to fight cancer - it allows you to stop bleeding, eliminate varicocele.
  2. Percutaneous balloon angioplasty or stenting - increasing the lumen of a vessel by introducing a balloon or stent into it.
The doctor introduces a conductor through the skin, brings it to an atherosclerotic plaque, inflates the balloon. After that, a spring-shaped stent is installed, the function of which is to support the walls of the artery, prevent them from collapsing.
This low-traumatic operation allows you to deal with atherosclerotic vascular lesions, while having a low risk of complications.
  3. Endovascular interventions on the aorta and peripheral arteries. In addition to operations on the vessels of the heart, manipulations to remove plaques, blood clots and improve blood flow, interventions are performed on the vessels of the abdominal cavity, legs, and neck.

Features of the clinic K+31

Our multidisciplinary center is equipped for carrying out surgical interventions on the heart and blood vessels by almost all methods, including minimally invasive ones. At the disposal of specialists are operating rooms and intensive care.
