What is blepharoplasty
Blepharoplasty is the correction of the eyelids, carried out by performing a surgical operation. The procedure involves removing excess skin around the eyes. The same operation is performed if necessary to remove or redistribute areas of adipose tissue, the so-called hernias. Eyelid surgery is a safe procedure that allows you to prolong youth, eliminate the signs of old age around the eyes.
Symptoms (causes)
Blepharoplasty is recommended when:
- The upper eyelid hangs;
- There are sac-like formations or excess adipose tissue;
- The skin in the outer corners of the eyes hangs;
- There are pronounced skin folds in the corners or in the lower part of the eye;
- There is a desire to modify the cut or the shape of the eyes.
Opportunities
Eyelid surgery makes it possible to:
- Get rid of excess skin around the eyes;
- Eliminate bag-like formations under the eyes;
- Perform an eyelid lift;
- Raise the outer corners of the eyes;
- Modify the cut and also the shape of the eyes.
Types of eyelid surgery
There are several types of eyelid surgery, each of which is suitable for a particular case, depending on the structure of the face and other individual characteristics of the patient.
Upper eyelid blepharoplasty
Over time, age-related changes are observed. They are expressed in the form of sagging of the skin of the upper eyelids, which negatively affects the area of the eyebrow line. This often leads to a narrowing of the field of view, an increase in eye strain. In order to eliminate such manifestations, plastic surgery of the upper eyelids is performed, which allows you to remove excess skin, raise the eyebrow line to the desired level. It is more effective to carry out such an operation and, in addition, the forehead skin tightening procedure.
Blepharoplasty of the lower eyelids
Correction of the lower eyelids is carried out in order to eliminate bag-like formations under the eyes, as well as pronounced folds or excess skin. The choice of this type of blepharoplasty depends on individual characteristics. If you need to get rid of swollen “bags” under the eyes that can lead to the appearance of deep wrinkles, and even young people have such a problem, then in this case a decision is made to perform transconjunctival plastic surgery. This procedure is a micro incision in the inner region of the lower eyelid. This procedure does not require stitches. Complete healing of the incision occurs within a day after the operation. As for the removal of excess skin, lower eyelid surgery is performed in the same way as blepharoplasty of the upper eyelids.
Circular blepharoplasty
This is a more complex and long lift of both the upper and lower eyelids. It is done in several stages and must be performed by a professional doctor, as it is more difficult than other types of plastic surgery. It allows you to eliminate the maximum number of problems that bother the patient at a time.
Transconjunctival blepharoplasty
In this type of plastic surgery, the doctor uses a special method, making micro-cuts on the inside of the eyelid. This allows you to hide the traces of surgery, i.e. does not interfere with the aesthetic appearance. Another advantage of such eyelid surgery is the minimal chance of complications.
