Unique endovascular surgery at K+31

K+31 endovascular surgeons performed a unique operation for our clinic - closing the left atrial appendage with an occluder.

This is a rare operation that is performed in only a few cardiological centers in Russia.

The operation not only saves the patient's life, but also in the future allows you to refuse drug therapy. No risk of ischemic events!

The operation was performed with access through the femoral vein, with additional visualization through the esophagus. A feature of the technique is the minimum loss of blood.

The intervention was performed by Eugene Vladimirovich Merkulov, a leading specialist in X-ray endovascular diagnostics and treatment of K+31 on Lobachevskogo.

The reason for the operation was the constant form of atrial fibrillation and the ineffectiveness of various anticoagulant therapy regimens. In other words, the patient had the highest propensity to form clots that could break off at any moment and thrombotic masses.

8 months ago, he already had an ischemic cerebral stroke of the cardioembolic variant. In this position, a blockage of a vessel in the brain occurs, and the area of the brain behind this vessel ceases to be supplied with blood and dies, which can lead to very sad consequences: loss of speech, immobility of the right or left sides of the body, and others.

The intervention went smoothly, the doctors managed to mechanically block the cavity of the left atrial appendage from the general blood flow, which prevents the formation of blood clots.

The patient is already awake and feeling well. He will be heading home very soon.
